Employer Affairs Unit

The Hinkley Point C Project is implementing a unique and innovative approach to training and skills through its Employment Affairs Unit (EAU).

Developed in collaboration with the Project’s Trades Unions’ partners, UCATT, Unite, GMB and Prospect the EAU will manage the skills demand through the Tier 1 Contractor’s Employment and Skills Plans and provide the main interface between the Project and local skills providers through the Hinkley Point Training Agency.

The EAU also exists to ensure that Trade Unions, the Client and the Contractors work effectively together across the Project to implement a set of shared agreements. These agreements underscore the importance and priority given to Zero Harm, Quality and Delivery. Each agreement also sets out the site skills development programme, emphasising apprenticeships, adult traineeships, skills enhancement and career development.

Additional to its core remit, this collaboration between EDF Energy and its contract partners, the EAU has an ambition to deliver employment and opportunity for underrepresented groups through a dedicated inclusion strategy. As part of this work the Project is also setting up a specialist diversity and inclusion unit, a service that will ensure that we cater for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion or social class.
