It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout of suppliers at the Local Supplier Engagement Event held at Cannington Court on 13th May 2026. The event provided a great opportunity to connect, share insights, and celebrate the ongoing impact of the Hinkley Point C project.
The day opened with a warm welcome from Loretta Browne (Local & Regional Engagement Lead), Loretta set an engaging tone for the sessions ahead. This was followed by an insightful update from Andrew Cockcroft (Head of Stakeholder Relations and Social Impact), who presented the latest highlights from the newly released Socio-economic and Environmental Impact Report, showcasing the positive difference HPC continues to make. Andrew said,
“It’s fantastic to see so many suppliers coming together to share experiences, build connections, and learn more about the opportunities linked to HPC. Events like this really highlight the strength and collaboration within our local supply chain.”
Steve Batten (Supply Chain Head of Commercial) spoke about the core values of HPC, sharing his personal reflections from over ten years on the project. He highlighted not only the scale of opportunity but also how involvement in HPC can help position businesses for future success.
A particular highlight of the event was hearing directly from suppliers working on HPC. Scott White (Berry & Escott), Paul Jobin (Snugs), Mike Morgan (MMES), Ben Mellick (AMS Nuclear), and Adam Lane (Mathias) shared their experiences, lessons learned, and how working on the project has helped strengthen and grow their businesses.
Looking ahead, Andy Edgeworth and Claudia Elliott from Sizewell C delivered an informative and forward-looking presentation, giving attendees a glimpse into the exciting opportunities on the horizon at SZC and explained the differences from HPC.
Following a networking lunch, attendees were treated to a guided bus tour of the Hinkley Point C site, led by Debbie Ison (Visitor Centre Guide). The tour offered a first-hand look at the scale of progress on site, along with fascinating insights into the project’s development.
