Helping to keep HPC’s offices working efficiently

A huge range of companies are involved in the construction of Hinkley Point C, helping EDF to build the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations. But all these firms need support, too, and this is where Somerset-based SDS Limited (Southwest Digital Systems Limited) comes in.

SDS Limited has built up an enviable reputation as a reliable and professional supplier of premium office equipment.

Its principal supplier is the Konica Minolta brand – and SDS Limited is Konica Minolta’s only Elite Partner in the South West.

Nigel Gass, Director of SDS Limited, said: “We supply photocopiers, laser printers and document scanners alongside wide format printers up to A0. All servicing and support are carried out by our own manufacturer-trained engineers from our office in Edington just outside of Bridgwater.

“Our sales process involves personal account management to ensure your solution is delivered as promised. We also supply print management software PaperCut and Scan workflow applications for invoice approval and electronic document storage and retrieval systems which ensure productive and efficient control of your information.

“We have built up an enviable reputation of providing a service that is unparalleled in our sector.”

As part of the HPC project, SDS Limited is working with key Tier 1 contractors including Somerset Passenger Solutions, HOST Somerset Ltd and Somerset Larder.

The company helps them with all their copy, print and scan requirements, alongside implementing a print management solution to control volumes and eliminate waste.

They work with Somerset Passenger Solutions at three sites – Junction 24, Mallard Court and the HPC site itself, HOST is supported at both its Sedgemoor and Hinkley accommodation campuses and Somerset Larder, which is based in North Petherton, works with SDS Limited across all its sites, including HPC.

Nigel and his team worked with the Hinkley Supply Chain to maximise the company’s chances of securing work at HPC.

They were advised how to register on the Hinkley Supply Chain portal and what information to include to appeal to potential clients.

“We have attended many seminars and events to meet new contacts and build relationships with existing ones,” Nigel said.

He added: “I can’t think of any reason why a company wouldn’t want to be involved with the Hinkley Supply Chain. It has benefitted us by gaining contracts with great local organisations who really value the levels of service we provide.

“There is a genuine willingness to try and support local business and that is very refreshing for a project of this scale.”

As for Hinkley Point C and the opportunities  for companies of all sizes across Somerset, the wider South West and South Wales, Nigel said: “The opportunity to work with the businesses that we support is exciting, however, not all larger organisations understand the value that a local service provider can deliver.

“I can honestly say that this hasn’t been the case with the contracts we have gained; these have all recently been renewed which shows the continued support for local business. We are extremely proud of our association with HPC.”
